Digital Photo Samples

Note: if you do not have a high speed connection, it will take a while to load these photos, particularly the ones at the top. These photos will be displayed in full size. First, a small pop-up window is loaded and the photo is sent there. Then the window is automatically resized to the full size of the photo. You may be waiting a minute or two while this happens.

Here are digital photos taken with different cameras and different resolutions, arranged in order of quality from highest to lowest. We did compress some of these photos to be smaller since the original photos were well over a megabyte and would take a long time to load. They open in a separate window so that you can open several and compare the quality. Notice the large size of the photos at the top and how detailed they are. Notice how the two top photos of the same flowers appear so very different. The M81 is the first camera I have used where the flash works correctly and can even pick up the subtle difference between the orange and yellow shades of the flowers. Other cameras yielded an "average" color. When printed in standard size of 4 X 6, the photos with more pixels are sharp and clear and they even look good at sizes as high as 8 X 10. Further down the list, the photos are smaller and blurrier. The final two aren't even that good at 4 X 6 and terrible at anything larger.
